No peace marches in UP till verdict
Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has ordered a strict ban on processions,rallies and public meetings and use of fireworks. The Secretary (Home),Deepak Kumar,said commissioners and district magistrates have been issued directives in this regard and have been asked to keep a strict vigil to restrain such acts.
Cong leaders to stay in constituencies
Jaipur: Ahead of the verdict,the Congress has directed its MLAs and MPs,especially in UP,to stay in respective constituencies to ensure communal harmony,party general secretary Digvijaya Singh said. The Mayawati government,Singh said,has taken precautionary measures to ensure law and order in Ayodhya and other parts of UP,which is appreciable.
Meerut court summons people
Meerut: As a precautionary measure,a local court has issued notices to 4,812 people to appear before it. The persons,belonging to BJP,SP,Congress and several other parties,have been summoned on basis of a police report which stated that they could get involved in breach of peace after the verdict,the police said.
LU closed for 2 days
Lucknow:Teaching in Lucknow University has been suspended on September 24 and 25. Offices of the varsity will remain open. The hostel provosts have been asked to remain vigilant. The university has accommodated three platoons of PAC in its compound,said the university spokesperson Prof SK Dwivedi.
