Author addresses moms-to-be
Against the perceptionfueled by movies and stereotypical imagesa newborn is not exactly the bundle of joy a mother falls in love with at the first sight. In fact,it is rather unsightly…wet, wiggly, fuzzy. It is not immediately that a baby becomes the apple of your eye, says Sangeeta Bhargava, author of Letters to My Baby (Genesis,Rs 295) who spoke about her book, introduced to a motley gathering at MB Club on Tuesday. My book is a companion for all mothers-to-be,whether their pregnancy is into the third week or 27th, said Bhargava, explaining how she kept medical jargon out of the text, with thats because I am not a doctor! But the book has useful tips for the expecting women as well as a new mother. The journey from conception to childbirth and to infantcare is replete with surprises as also anxiety. Through my personal experience I have tried to prepare the first-timers so that they can sail smoothly and cherish motherhood, said the author, whose book has been read since it was first published in 2007 by not only pregnant women. I have received an overwhelming response from fathers and grandparents of the babies too!
