BJP leader Varun Gandhi has predicted that Samajwadi Party will emerge as the single largest party in the Assembly elections in UP where voting for two more phases will take place in the week ahead.
The Lok Sabha MP from Pilibhit,who has confined his election campaign to his constituency,said both the Congress and BJP would improve their tallies at the cost of the ruling BSP. I havent toured the state but I feel that SP will be the single largest party in UP. Other than that I dont know how much BJP,Congress and BSP will get. But I think the BJP will do significantly better. But I cant say how much. I think SP will be the single largest gainer but I cant say how well, he told a news channel.
He also took a jibe at his own party saying BJP has 55 chief ministerial candidates. He said he did not think the results would be super magnificent for the BJP.
The BJP responded to Varuns predictions saying he is a good psephologist. Varun is an intelligent leader and good psephologist. His predictions are not as a BJP leader but as a psephologist, said spokesperson Saeed Naqvi said.
