A Lucknow court on Monday ordered bail for all five persons arrested in connection with the arson at the residence of UPPC chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi on July 15.
They were asked to furnish personal bonds of Rs 20,000 and a surety of like amount each. The order was passed after the CB-CID,which is investigating the case, submitted that investigation will not be affected if they were released and evidence could be collected without their detention.
The court directed the accused Guddu Yadav,Shiv Kumar Singh,Inder Singh,Zameer Khan and Susajit Singh to cooperate with the investigation and refrain from tempering with evidence.
On August 10,Zameer Khans lawyer Gopal Trivedi had filed an application before Judicial Magistrate Abid Shameem, requesting for cancellation of his judicial remand as the investigating agency had failed to find any evidence against him. He also stated that Zameer was falsely implicated in the case.
On August 17,the agency responded that the investigation was on and that they were collecting evidence. Later, the court asked them to inform what more evidence they had collected and fixed August 31 as the date for hearing.
All five were arrested, although Rita Bahuguna Joshi had alleged that the attack on her residence was government-sponsored and led by a BSP legislator. The Congress had lodged a written complaint, naming two BSP men. After five days, the state government transferred the investigation to CB-CID.
All five families alleged that the men had been framed. Guddu Yadav,Shiv Kumar Singh and Inder Singh were held by the Cantt police after a petty dispute, while Zameer Khan and Sujit Kumar were held after a scuffle.
