Five cops die in road accident

Five policemen died after the jeep they were travelling in was hit by a truck on the Lucknow-Bareilly Highway in Tilhar area of Shahjahanpur district on Monday morning. The deceased are Sub-Inspector Shyamlal Gautam,Constable Sudhir Kumar,Constable driver Shri Krishna,Home Guard Santosh Kumar and Assistant Company Commander (Home Guards) Shiv Om.

Shahjahanpur Superintendent of Police Krishna Mohan said that the police team from Tilhar police station had gone for conducting raids to arrest a criminal. After the raids,the police team was on patrolling duty

when a truck (UP 25 T-6290) laden with coal hit the police jeep head on around 1.30 am. The jeep was smashed badly thereby causing the death of all five occupants,the SP said. The truck driver is on the run.
