LUCKNOW: An FIR was lodged against unidentified persons for beating to death a fishing cat,a rare animal,in Bulandshahrs Chit Sona Alipur village on Wednesday. Forest officials suspect the fishing cat strayed out of Hastinapur sanctuary,50 km from the village. Divisional Forest Officer,Bulandshahr,G K Agarwal said the fishing cat is a protected animal. In the morning,locals spotted the fishing cat on a tree. Forest officials were alerted. When they tried to catch the animal,locals started throwing stones. The fishing cat climbed down and tried to escape when villagers beat the animal to death with sticks.
Man lynched after robbery attempt
LUCKNOW: A 30-year-old man was lynched to death by locals when he,along with two others,was attempting to rob a house on Wednesday. The police rushed the victim,Dharmendra Yadav,to a hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. Dharmendra was a resident of the same locality. His accomplices,however,managed to escape. According to the police,Rajesh Srivastava woke up due to some noises in his house. The intruders,after seeing Rajesh,tried to escape but Rajesh and his son Bobby caught one of them. Hearing the commotion,neighbours also gathered. They all beat Dharmendra,and hit him with stones,till the police arrived.
The police said Dharmendra was earlier arrested in theft cases and was out on bail.
Senior official suspended
Lucknow: The state government on Wednesday suspended Vivek Choudhary,Deputy Registrar,Firms,Societies and Chits,of the Kanpur division on charges of violating stipulated norms. In the wake of complaints that Chaudhary had dissolved the managing committee of Nehru College in Kannauj against norms,an inquiry was ordered into the matter. The inquiry found the official guilty of violating the stipulated norms. Taking a strong view of this,the government ordered his suspension with immediate effect,an official spokesperson said.
Vanarasi circuit house to get solar power
Varanasi: Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency has decided to equip the circuit house in Varanasi with solar energy for better utilisation of alternate energy sources. The agency has prepared a proposal,initiated by the PWD,of about Rs 65 crore to provide solar light to the circuit house and Pindra tehsil compound,an official said on Wednesday.
Woman,brother-in-law attempt suicide
Azamgarh: A woman and her brother-in-law allegedly attempted suicide by consuming poison in Pawai-Laadpur village of Azamgarh,as they were upset over opposition to their illegitimate relationship. Sushma (25) and her brother-in-law Vikas (20),consumed poison on Tuesday after which both of them were rushed to hospital,said police. Sushma succumbed.
