10,000 boxes of bangles sent to Ayodhya. ExpressAhead of the Ram temple inauguration, the city of Firozabad in UP, known for its glass-art works, Wednesday sent 10,000 boxes of kangan or bangles to Ayodhya. A truck carrying the 10,000 packets of bangles is expected to reach Ayodhya Thursday morning.
Before heading to the temple town, the boxes of bangles were moved around Firozabad city. A large number of residents took part in the procession that culminated with a puja at the city’s Bada Hanuman Mandir.
The bangles have been made by a local 57-year-old businessman and BJP district general secretary, Anand Agarwal, who said he began work around 4 months ago after obtaining permission from the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
“I felt a deep stirring as the date for Pran Pratishtha was announced last year. As a bangle maker, I wanted to offer something special. Something that would become a cherished memory for devotees,” said Agarwal, adding he was a part of the Ram Mandir movement in 1992.
After much thought, Agarwal said, he came up with the idea of “a unique offering” of 10,000 boxes, each containing two exquisitely crafted glass bangles. “Around 250 artisans, belonging to both Hindu and Muslim communities, worked day and night to prepare bangles,” Agarwal said.
Agarwal said: “This is for the first time that bangles without any joint have been made. The bangles have five layers of chemical coatings which will remain intact for around six months. In each bangle, there is a gold mixture coating on its side.”
While one set of bangles has images of Lord Ram, Sita, and Lord Hanuman engraved on them, the other set has ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and ‘Ram Darbar’ inscribed on it.
