Viral video shows man ‘urinating’ at Lucknow’s historic Bhool Bhulaiya; FIR lodged

A viral clip showing a man allegedly urinating inside Bhool Bhulaiya at Bada Imambara has triggered public anger in Lucknow.

An FIR was registered against an unidentified person after a video purportedly showing a man urinating inside Bhool Bhulaiya at the historic Bada Imambara complex in Lucknow went viral on social media, police said.

In the video, a man is seen allegedly urinating against a wall inside the 18th century complex.

After the clip surfaced online, it drew a strong public reaction.

Many people on social media demanded strict action against the man, saying he showed disrespect for the monument, which is an important religious, cultural and historical site.

Station House Officer, Chowk Police Station, Nagesh Upadhyay said the FIR was lodged against an unidentified person under Section 298 (injuring or defiling place of worship, with intent to insult the religion of any class) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

He said the video was unclear, and the police are examining footage from CCTV cameras installed in and around the area to identify the person.

The case was registered on the complaint of the caretaker of the Imambara, the SHO said.
