Farmer son makes it to the top

Gyan Prakash Verma,who topped class 12 Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Board examination on Monday with 94 per cent,is son of a farmer from Kesarwa village of Barabanki district.

Gyan Prakash Verma,who topped class 12 Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Board examination on Monday with 94 per cent,is son of a farmer from Kesarwa village of Barabanki district.

“While my parents lived in the village,they arranged a room for me and my two sisters in Barabanki city so that we can study in the best schools here,” said Gyan.

“He is the first one in our family to have topped any examination. He has cleared UPSEAT examination but he wants to go for coaching in Kota and re-appear for All India examinations for engineering next year.” said Arvind Kumar Verma,Gyan’s father. Gyan has not got good rank in the AIEEE,the results of which also came on Sunday.

Meanwhile,Arpita Pandey from Lucknow,who has topped among girls also shares somewhat similar story. Arpita’s father is a Railway station master in Kansganj district and had rented a house in Lucknow to ensure good schooling for Arpita and her two sisters and a brother. “She had done her class 10 from Lakhimpur Khiri when I was posted there and had topped the district,” said Arpita’s father Pramod Kumar Pandey,who hails from Gorakhpur and was in Lucknow on Monday.

Even Arpita also plans to re-appear for AIEEE next year as she has not got good rank this time.
