DIG’s car knocks down 3 schoolgirls,one critical

The official car of SM Tarde,the Deputy Inspector General (Establishment) hit three girls while they were on their way to school in Jagatpur area of Rae Bareli on Monday.

The official car of SM Tarde,the Deputy Inspector General (Establishment) hit three girls while they were on their way to school in Jagatpur area of Rae Bareli on Monday.

The driver,constable Lallan Yadav,was arrested and the car was seized.

The condition of one of the victims,who is undergoing treatment at the CSMMU Trauma Centre in Lucknow,is stated to be critical.

The Superintendent of Police,Rae Bareli,DC Mishra,said the incident took place when the DIG,who is posted with the Police Headquarters in Allahabad,was on way to Lucknow in his official vehicle.

The car was passing through Nawabganj when the driver lost control of the vehicle and it knocked down three girls — Shalu Maurya (10),Yasmin (10) and Reeta (15) — while they were walking to school.

All three suffered serious injuries. Shalu,whose condition was the worst,suffered head injuries and multiple fractures in her arms and legs. She was rushed to the Trauma Centre.

The SP added that a case under Section 279 (rash driving),337 (causing hurt and endangering life) and 338 (causing grievous hurt) has been registered against the driver.

The DIG was provided another vehicle to continue his journey to Lucknow,Mishra said.
