Curfew relaxed in Bareilly

The situation remained peaceful in Bareilly today following which curfew was relaxed for three hours in five police station areas and lifted completely in Izzat Nagar.

The situation remained peaceful in Bareilly today following which curfew was relaxed for three hours in five police station areas and lifted completely in Izzat Nagar. Curfew in Aonla area was relaxed during the day,and will be enforced during night hours only,confirmed Bareilly zone IG Devendra Singh Chauhan.

Chauhan said that 40 more persons were arrested today for alleged involvement in arson,rioting and loot. The number of arrests in such cases has reached 75. Besides,he added,the police have made 245 preventive arrests. The IG also said that they have been keeping watch to maintain peace next Monday,which is the last day of the movement of kanwarias.

Bareilly District Magistrate (DM) Manish Chauhan said that the curfew may be relaxed for more hours Thursday onwards if the situation remains normal in the affected areas.

Additional Director General (ADG) Law and Order Jagmohan Yadav is also camping in Bareilly since Monday.

The administration had lifted the curfew in the areas under Collectorbuckganj,Cantonment and Bithri Chainpur police stations on Tuesday.
