CPML worker ‘gangraped’ in Sultanpur

A Dalit CPI (ML) worker was allegedly gangraped by three persons while she was returning home after attending a party meeting in Imliya Sultanpur police station area of Sitapur district on Saturday.

A Dalit CPI (ML) worker was allegedly gangraped by three persons while she was returning home after attending a party meeting in Imliya Sultanpur police station area of Sitapur district on Saturday.

However,Sitapur SP Deepak Kumar said primary investigation has found that the victim had an altercation over some issue in the village and the allegation of gangrape appeared to be fabricated settle the score.

A case has been registered and the victim has been sent for medical examination. The investigation will find out if the victim was raped,he added.

The victim told the police that she attended an agitation organised by the party in Sitapur city yesterday. She along with other workers attended a meeting by a local party leader Taule Ram at Baseti village last evening.

She alleged that she stayed at Ram’s house last night and left on a bicycle for her home this morning when Ram Kumar,Deewan and Gangram of her village caught hold of her. They took her forcibly in a field and raped her.

The accused escaped after tying her limbs with her saree. The locals later freed her and informed the police,she mentioned in the complaint.
