Cops solve murder case,arrest 8 people

According to the police,the murder was executed by contract killers hired by gutka company owners,who were unhappy after Singh seized goods from their storehouse in May. Rs 5 lakh was given to the contract killers to execute the plan. 

Those arrested includes owner of Doctor gutka company Shrikant Chaurasia and owners of Arzu gutka company Pramod Chaurasia and Vinod Chaurasia.

The other accused are Ravi Patel,Avinash Singh alias Shinku,Manish Singh,Ramesh alias Barkau and Aftab alias Pintu.

According to the police,Pramod was miffed by Narvedeshwar who had last year raided the manufacturing units owned by him,Shrikant and Vinod.

After he conducted a second raid in May and seized gutka worth around Rs 35 lakh, Pramod decided to kill him.

During the raids,the assistant commissioner found stock in the storehouse exceeding the quantity declared. Moreover,the ready stock and the raw material,too,did not match the account of the company.

This was revealed by Avinash Singh,an associate of Pramod,during the police interrogation.

According to Avinash,he along with the owners of the gutka company hired contract killers to murder the excise officer. Avinash contacted one Ramesh who got Aftab to hire the four contract killers. 

“The four contract killers trapped Narvedeshwar by making a hoax call about some goods being illegally brought to a storehouse,” said Vijay Bhushan,Additional Superintendent of

Police of Varanasi.

“Knowing that he usually swooped down on offenders alone,they gave him an address where they could attack him,” said Bhushan.

The details of the cellphone number used to make the hoax call indicated that it had been used by the contract killers to communicate among themselves.

Of the four killers,Manoj Singh and Kishan Vishkarma are absconding,while Manish Singh and Ravi Patel are in police custody. According to the police,the hoax call was made by Manoj.

Four countrymade firearms,a pistol used in the crime,two motorcycles and six cellphones were recovered from the possession of the arrested persons.
