Cops probing Varanasi blast look for missing man

Sadiq Sheikh,who was arrested in Mumbai in September 2008,is presently lodged in a Gujarat jail.

A native of Para village in Azamgarh,he was among the first IM recruits in 2002 and had undergone training in Pakistan. Sources said Siddiqui,whose whereabouts are not known for more than a month,had visited Sadiq Sheikh in jail several times in recent months. But he never visited Sadiq Sheikh when he was jailed in Mumbai,an official said.

Investigating agencies zeroed in on Suheil while scanning the records of people who visited various terror accused in different jails.

Suheil’s name was shortlisted among others as he started visiting Sadiq Sheikh suddenly after about one-and-a-half years after he was put behind bars. Between August and October,he met Sadiq Sheikh thrice.

But since November 15,Suheil’s cellphone is switched off and his family claims they do not know his whereabouts,the official said.

Suheil had also been a friend of one Zakir,who was arrested along with Sadiq Sheikh for his role in different blast incidents.

Zakir,a native of Kanwra village in Sarai Mir area of Azamgarh,used to live along with his parents and two brothers in Bhiwandi. Zakir introduced Suheil to Sadiq.
