Constable death: DySP suspended

The government today suspended deputy SP Umesh Kumar Yadav for dereliction of duty,inefficiency and laxity during an attack on a police team led by him in which his gunner died on June 5,said a Home department spokesperson.

The government today suspended deputy SP Umesh Kumar Yadav for dereliction of duty,inefficiency and laxity during an attack on a police team led by him in which his gunner died on June 5,said a Home department spokesperson.

Yadav is posted as circle officer (CO) of Sadar area in Saharanpur district.

The gunner — constable Rahul Dhaka — was shot dead by a gang of four criminals who escaped with his service carbine while the CO and two other policemen accompanying him did not retaliate to the firing by the assailants.

The gang was running away after looting cash from two petrol pumps in the adjacent Yamuna Nagar district of Haryana and the CO chased them. The police team intercepted the robbers in Sadar area of Saharanpur and constable Rahul tried to nab them when he was shot.
