Twenty to 40 per cent members of three of the four newly formed zonal committees of the UP Youth Congress are products of the talent hunt the party had launched earlier.
With the selected fresh candidates including doctors,lecturers,MBAs and even an architect,the youth wing has decided a strategy to utilise their talents in strengthening partys activities.
We have big plans for them. For doctors,we plan to start a doctors cell which can work to not only include young doctors in the party but also help organising free health camps in different areas. Similarly,teachers can help organising free classes for the poor, said Maksood Khan,president of the eastern zone.
Those selected in eastern zone include Dr Seema Ansari and an MBA,Paritosh Tripathi. Committees vice-president Pooja Pandey has qualified NET and is pursuing her PhD from the Allahabad University.
Khan said the fresh faces would initially be attached with the existing members,but those who were involved in student politics could directly be given responsibilities.
Brijendra Mishra,Bundelkhand zone president,said his committee included two doctors and a lecturer. Hari Shankar Shakya,a lecturer at a Jalaun college,has been made general secretary of the unit.
I do not have political background. As a lecturer after 3 pm,I have enough time to invest in social activity. I can guide poor children and also work for strengthening the organisation, Shakya said.
The western zone has among others a Dalit architect,Ashutosh Pradhan,and a young lawyer Gaurav Sharma,said zonal president Vidit Chaudhary.
Over 200 to 300 candidates were interviewed In each zone.
