‘Commonwealth Express’ to arrive on July 8

A day before the Commonwealth Games 2010 Queen’s Baton Relay arrives in the state capital,the ‘Commonwealth Express’— an exhibition train which aims at spreading awareness about the activities of the Commonwealth Games will arrive in Lucknow.

Directing officials to ensure a warm welcome to the Queen’s Baton,DM Lucknow Anil Kumar Sagar informed that the Commonwealth Express will be arriving at the Charbagh Railway Station on July 8 and will be there to spread awareness among the public regarding the Games on July 9 and 10 as well.

The Queen’s Baton will reach Itaunja,Lucknow at 4.15 pm on July. Sports Officer Anil Kumar who attended the meet organised in connection with the Queen’s Baton Relay in Lucknow,informed that at Itaunja the Baton will be received by the Uttar Pradesh Olympic Association (UPOA) officials. The district administration officials will also be present on the occasion. At Bara Imambara,Residency and Parivartan Chowk photo sessions will be organised and after that the Baton team will head towards CMS Kanpur Road where cultural programmes will be held from 7.15 pm.

At 7.45 am on July 10,the Baton relay will proceed from the Bara Imambara towards KD Singh ‘Babu’ Stadium. It will be given a warm welcome by the school children and athletes throughout the route. Prominent sportspersons will take part in the relay.
