Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has asked his ministers to donate Rs 1 lakh individually and SP legislators Rs 50,000 each towards relief for Uttarakhand flood victims.

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has asked his ministers to donate Rs 1 lakh individually and SP legislators Rs 50,000 each towards relief for Uttarakhand flood victims.

The decision was taken during a meeting of SP legislators at the SP office in Lucknow on Friday.

Akhilesh asked his legislators to extend help to Uttarakhand in the moment of crisis. Many of the legislators and ministers promptly presented their cheques to the CM. Some of them even handed over cash. SP has 224 legislators in the state Assembly.

It was also decided that Rs 10 lakh from each MLA’s development fund (Vidhayak Nidhi) will be transferred towards relief. For this, necessary changes in the guidelines of Vidhayak Nidhi will be made.

At the meeting, some legislators tried to raise other issues, like law and order, but were silenced by others on the grounds that only the Uttarakhand tragedy would be discussed during the meeting.
