CBSE basketball from Oct 7

Rani Laxmi Bai Memorial Senior Secondary School,Sector-14 Indira Nagar,Lucknow will organise the CBSE Cluster IV Basketball Tournament 2010-’11 from October 7 to 10 on its premises.

Organising secretary Asha Arora informs that a total of 71 teams— 24 girls’ teams and 47 boys’ teams from Eastern UP and Bihar will be participating in the tournament.

The tournament will be inaugurated at 10.00 am on October 7 by Jai Pal Singh,founder manger,Rani Laxmi Bai Memorial Group of schools.

Sanjay excels

A five wicket haul by Sanjay Kumar (5 for 9) went a long way as his team— Lucknow Colts defeated Arman Academy by 58 runs in their league match of the All India Triveni Baksh Singh Memorial Under-17 Cricket Tournament for Trinity Public School Trophy,in Lucknow on Tuesday.

Three more league matches were organised on Tuesday. Young Friends Club,Delhi beat Ludhiana by nine wickets in the second match. Jyoti Cricket Club beat Eram Club by 5 runs in the third match. The highlight of the match was a five wicket haul by Faiz Ahmed of Jyoti Cricket Club. In the fourth match Lakhimpur beat MISC Delhi by two wickets. Krishna Bali of Lakhimpur took five crucial for the team.

Lucknow Colts: 127 all out in 20 overs ( Umakant Sharma 40,Rahul Rai 19; Vikas Rawat 2 for 12,Devendra 1 for 15);

Arman Academy: 69 all out in 16.3 overs ( Devendra Kumar 17; Sanjay Kumar 5 for 9,Arsh Patra 2 for 18);

Ludhiana: 69 all out in 16 overs ( Deepak Thapa 28; Mukul Sharma 3 for 13,Sagar 3 for 19,V Purohit 2 for 6);

Young Friends Club,Delhi: 71 for one in 11.4 overs ( Vishal Sherawat 22 not out,Vipul Sherawat 20; Krishnakant 1 for 11);

(3rd match):

Jyoti Cricket Club: 52 all out in 17.2 overs ( A Yadav 18 not out; Ankit Yadav 3 for 9,Vikas Singh 2 for 1,Jitendra Singh 2 for 9,Ankur Agarwal 2 for 17);

Eram Club: 47 all out in 17.2 overs ( Ashutosh Mathur 18; Faiz Ahmed 5 for 13);

(4th match):

MISC Delhi: 57 all out in 15.4 overs ( Shahid Khan 18; Krishna Bali 5 for 9,Saurabh Singh 3 for 19);

Lakhimpur: 63 for eight in 19.1 overs ( Pankaj Verma 21; Shahid Khan 3 for 14,Ashish Tokas 2 for 12,Ajay Yadav 2 for 18).

Jaidev,Vipin shine

All round efforts by Jaidev Bist (31 not out; 2 for 3) and Vipin Singh ( 39 runs; 2 for 16) helped UP Timber Cricket Club in defeating Unity Cricket Academy by 112 runs in their league match of the 1st Ram Babu Pal Memorial Cricket Tournament at Pt. RB Tiwari Stadium,Lucknow on Tuesday.

Batting first after winning the toss,UP Timber Club scored 186 runs losing all its wickets in 38.5 overs in the 40 overs-a-side match. SM Mehdi bowled with good vision and took four wickets giving away 23 runs in his 7.5 over spell while Rafeeq and Deepak Tripathi took two wickets each.

In reply,Unity Cricket Academy was bowled out at a score of 74 runs in 21.4 overs. Very few of the Unity batsmen could stay at the the crease for long due to the accurate bowling by the UP Timber bowlers.

Kabaddi trials

The district level junior boys’ kabaddi selection trials will be organised at 10.00 am on September 6 at KD Singh ‘Babu’ Stadium,Lucknow. As per a press release from Regional Sports Office,Lucknow,those boys who are below 20 years of age as on December 31,2010 and whose weight is 65 kgs,can participate in the trials along with the age proof certificate which should be duly certified by the principals of their respective schools and colleges. Those selected at the district level will have to appear in the regional trials which will be organised at 10.00 am on October 7.
