Accusing BSP chief Mayawati of working for “her own prosperity in the name of empowerment of Dalits”, cabinet minister Shivpal Yadav Saturday claimed Samajwadi Party will “win 300” out of the 403 seats in the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. He added that the appointment of OBC leader Keshav Prasad Mauyra as BJP state chief would help it achieve the target.

“We will get 300 seats in UP Assembly polls and we depend on ‘jitaoo’ (winnable) and ‘tikaoo’ (loyal) persons. Also, appointment of Keshav Prasad Mauyra, an OBC, as BJP state president would help SP in achieving the target. OBCs, Dalits and upper caste are with SP due to development done by its government,” Shivpal, the SP in-charge of the state, said.

Launching a scathing attack on Mayawati, he said that the BSP supremo ignored the growth and empowerment of both the Dalits as well as the state during her government. Alleging that Mayawati had spread corruption in the system and also made officers corrupt, Shivpal said a case of disproportionate assets is going on against her.

He said Mayawati should not raise questions on the development works being done by Akhilesh Yadav government. “We believe in development. Since formation of Akhilesh government, development has remained our agenda on priority,” Shivpal said.

The senior SP leader said that he has inspected the ghats of Ayodhya, Varanasi and Vrindavan and that found that the BJP only made announcements about cleaning of Ganga and other rivers but their government at the Centre has done nothing.
