The Executive Council of Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU) on Thursday approved a proposal of Rs 800 crore that includes development of two advance research centres and extending the existing campus of the university.

UPTU finalises Rs 800-cr plan for advance research centres
The Executive Council of Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU) on Thursday approved a proposal of Rs 800 crore that includes development of two advance research centres and extending the existing campus of the university. The location of the research centres has not been finalised yet. While the UPTU will bear Rs 325 crore,the rest will be funded by the Centre and the state government. The council has also referred the proposal of promoting 32 teachers of Institute of Engineering and Technology to the chancellor after the state government had raised objection.

Digvijay visits Gorakhnath temple
Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh paid a visit to Gorakhnath temple on Thursday despite opposition from some of his own partymen. The mahant of the Gorakhnath temple is BJP MP Yogi Aditynath. Singh also visited a dargah,around 5 kilometres from the temple,and offered a chadar there. He was accompanied by state Congress chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi. Meanwhile,Talat Aziz,who had contested from Maharajganj in the last Lok Sabha elections on a BSP ticket,has formally joined the Congress.
