Lucknow: A pulse polio programme was held in Lucknow on Sunday where Health and Family Welfare minister Ahmad Hasan said the state government was working to eliminate polio and those living in slums and nomadic people would be trained to achieve the goal.
He said in India no polio case had been detected since January 2011 due to which WHO had removed it from the list of polio-affected countries. We will not be taking polio programme lightly and directives have been issued to identify gaps in it,if any,and ensure that the anti-polio campaign continues successfully, he said.

New Delhi: Team Anna will launch its first phase of western Uttar Pradesh tour on Monday to drum up support for its indefinite fast here. A Team Anna member said they will travel across western UP villages for creating awareness about their demands ahead of the protest that will discuss in detail corruption allegations against Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The ‘Gram Samvad Yatra’,as it is called,will be anchored by Team Anna member Manish Sisodia.
613 persons to get jobs at coach factory
New Delhi: Railways will provide jobs to 613 persons in compensation to their land acquired for the Rae Bareli coach factory,putting an end to the deadlock over the issue. Railways had acquired 541 hectare land for the coach factory out of which 283 hectares belonged to private land owners.
