LUCKNOW: Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav Thursday suspended Umendra,Managing Director of the UP State Forest Corporation,and Atibal Singh,General Manager,for delaying payment of tendu leaf labourers. Akhilesh has also ordered for disciplinary action against the suspended officials. The CM has ordered that the payment of tendu leaf labourers who are mostly in BPL category should be done immediately. Special camps should be organised and bank accounts of the labourers opened for making the payment. Due to the laxity by these officials,the production of tendu leaves too had gone down. In 2012,2,85,775 bags of tendu leaves were produced,while in 2013 the production came down to 2 lakh bags of tendu leaves.
Kushwaha shifted to urology department
LUCKNOW: Former BSP minister Babu Singh Kushwaha has been shifted to urology department of Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Science (SGPGI),Lucknow,after complaints of blood in urine and fever. Kushwaha,who was lodged at Ghaziabads Dasna Jail in connection with the NRHM scam,was admitted to SGPGIs cardiology department after he had complained of chest pain on Tuesday. Dr P K Goel,head of the department of cardiology,said the former ministers heart conditions were normal. But he was referred to urology department on Wednesday after some fresh problems of urine.
HC seeks Noida response on PIL
ALLAHABAD: The Allahabad High Court Thursday sought response from the Noida Authority on a petition filed by former chief secretary Nira Yadav who had challenged the Authoritys May 20 order cancelling the conversion of her plots in Noida from residential to commercial. The plots had been allegedly allotted to her while she was the Chief Executive Officer of Noida in mid-1990s. A Division Bench of Justices Sunil Ambwani and Surya Prakash Kesarwani fixed September 9 as the next date of hearing. The court questioned if the CEO could allot plots to any Authority employee,including himself. It has also asked whether any official had the power to allot plots to his or her relatives.
Free laptop scheme wins award
LUCKNOW: The free laptop distribution scheme of the Uttar Pradesh government for intermediate pass students has won Certificate of Excellence Award in public choice category at the E-India exhibition held on July 23 and 24 in Hyderabad. The award was given in the field of Government Initiative and Education,a press release issued by the department of information and public relation said.
Docs murder: Sketch of accused released
KANPUR: The police have released a sketch of the accused in the murder case of Dr Suresh Chandra,government doctor. The sketch of a woman in early 20s,was prepared based on the description provided by the employees of the hotel where Chandra was found dead.
Govt to build job portal for unemployed
Lucknow: In a bid to cater to 72 lakh unemployed youths in the state and facilitate finding jobs for them,the state government has decided to build a web portal.
The labour department has been asked to prepare a website similar to http://www.naukri.com to cater to those unemployed. This site will assist youths across the country in finding suitable jobs,” Infrastructure and Industrial Development Commissioner (IDC) Alok Ranjan said.
