Three killed in cracker store fire

Allahabad: A woman and two minors died of burn injuries due to a fire that broke out in a cracker store in Meja area of Allahabad district on Friday. The police said the owner of the store used to supply crackers in marriages and had kept them in his small store. A case was registered against the owner,now absconding,whose wife and daughter were among the dead. Police said the incident took place around 12.45 pm in the store owned by Jaleel Ahmed,in Hira Ram Katra in Meja. Jaleels is wife Rukhsana (40),their daughter Sheeba (16),and Shaheen (10),daughter of a neighbour,were present at the spot.

3 girls,2 women drown in canal

Lucknow: Three minor girls and two women were drowned while they were taking bath in a canal in Eka area of Firozabad district on Friday. Another girl,who was about to drown,was rescued by locals. Firozabad SP Rakesh Singh said that two women,Vimlesh (25) and Bhuri (30),and four girls Ruby,Pinki,Lakshmi (all 12-years-old) and Bhawna (13) of Jagannath village had gone to a canal close to the village around 9 am. While the two women were washing clothes on one side of the canal,the girls were taking bath,the SP added.

Man gets life term for killing father

Mainpuri: A man was handed down rigorous life imprisonment by a local court on Friday for killing his father. In April 2011,the convict Narendra had attacked his father Phool Singh with an axe following an argument over some matter,prosecution sources said.
