AIMPLB leader hails secular Mulayam
Lucknow:Vice-president of All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) Dr Kalbe Sadiq hailed Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav as a secular leader who has sympathy for minorities. Sadiq was speaking at the concluding session of a two-day conference organised jointly by Shia cleric Kalbe Jawwads Majlis Ulema-e-Hind and Sufi Sunnis organisation All India Ulema Mashaikh Board (AIUMB) at Shahnajaf Imambara on Thursday. The conference was organised to forge a joint front against the Talibani ideology and raise issues related to the Muslim community. I assure that Mulayam Singh Yadav is 100 per cent secular. He has great sympathy for the minorities and has several plans which he had discussed with me. But we should understand his problems and give him time. All our demands will be met, said Sadiq,whose son Kalbe Hussain is a member of the ruling party.
IAS accused of rape bid on train gets bail
Lucknow:A local court on Thursday granted bail to IAS officer Shashi Bhushan Lal Susheel,who was arrested on October 1 on the charges of allegedly molesting and attempting to rape a woman on a moving train. He had got interim bail on October 4. Susheel,who was Special Secretary,Technical Education,was put under suspension after the incident. Vinod Kumar Shahi,counsel for the accused,said Sessions Judge K K Sharma,who granted bail,raised question over the charges against Susheel in the FIR and observed how a person would attempt to commit rape in a moving train where fellow passengers are also travelling. Shahi said the womans mother had lodged a complaint alleging molestation and she and her daughter were sent home. The police added that the attempt to rape charge after two hours. The police claimed the charge was added on the basis of the womans statement recorded at her home,Shahi added.
