The Noida police have transferred two of its officers handling BPO executive Pooja Bhatias murder case for failure to interrogate the victims colleagues properly,and on time.
According to senior officers,the case could have been solved sooner had the police officials in charge of the case interrogated accused Daljeet Singh properly. And the officers believe that lead could have come from proper interrogation of other employees at the Noida call centre where Bhatia,23,worked.
The officers transferred to rural districts are Circle Officer-II Ambesh Tyagi and Station House Officer (SHO) of Sector-24 police station Inspector Babu Ram Verma. Tyagi has been transferred as Circle Officer of Greater Noida he will be replaced by Rajesh Kumar,Circle Officer-III of Greater Noida.
Inspector Verma has been shifted to Jarcha police station in Greater Noida. Girish Jayant from Jarcha police station will take over as the Sector-24 SHO,the police said on Friday.
The new team will investigate the case afresh,it was informed.
The three doctors who have conducted the postmortem on the victim will be questioned, a senior officer said. We also have to investigate whether the victim was raped before murder,as circumstantial evidence points out,or whether it was a case of suicide as the accused claims.
According to the officer,Bhatias cellphone is yet to be traced,and the murder motive is also to be probed.
Bhatia had left her Noida Sector-22 home on the afternoon of March 1 purportedly to play Holi with friends,according to her family members. Her body was later found in Badhkal Lake by Faridabad police; it was cremated since the police there could not identify the victim.
The victim was traced by family members from her clothes,after Noida police contacted their Faridabad counterparts.
