The Lucknow police on Wednesday filed a revised chargesheet in connection with the murder of Chief Medical Officer Dr B P Singh. Last week,Chief Judicial Magistrate Rajesh Upadhyay had refused to take cognisance of the first chargesheet, saying it was filed on the basis of incomplete investigation.
The police said investigation had been completed and only the forensic report on the voice samples of the three accused, which were taken to match them with certain recordings, were awaited.
The court will take up the chargesheet for cognizance on July 16,said Assistant Prosecuting Officer Surendra Verma.
Abhimanyu Dhar Dwivedi, investigating officer in the case and station officer of the Gomti Nagar police station, said he informed the court that the report on voice samples, which had been sent to a lab in Chandigarh, may take around four months, but other investigation had been completed.
Those named in the chargesheet are Anand Prakash Tiwari,Vinod Tiwari and R K Verma. Singh was shot dead by motorcycle riders while he was taking a morning walk near his Gomti Nagar residence on April 2.
The police claimed former Deputy CMO Y S Sachan had planned the murder after Singh demanded a share in the kickbacks in drug supplies and threatened to implicate Sachan if he did not pay up. With the help of his friend R K Verma,Sachan allegedly hired Anand Prakash Tiwari and Vinod Sharma to carry out the crime. All three were arrested on June 17.
