A boatman and a weaver will be the two other proposers for BJP’s PM candidate Narendra Modi when he files his nomination Thursday.
Justice (retd) Giridhar Malviya and renowned Hindustani classical singer Pandit Chhannu Lal Mishra have already consented to be Modi’s proposers. Earlier, family of Late shehnai maestro Bismillah Khan had refused to be part of nomination process.
Announcing the name of the proposers at a press meet, senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said: “Veer Bhadra Nishad, a boatman, and Ashok, who represents weavers’ community, would be the two other proposers.”
To a query on Allahabad-based Justice Malviya not being essentially a Varanasi citizen, Prasad said this was irrelevant. “He is a resident of Varanasi and grandson of Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya,” he said.
Elaborating on nomination programme, Prasad said Modi would reach BHU around 8.30 am and garland statue of the Mahamana at the university’s main gate. He will then fly to Kashi Vidyapeeth, where he would garland the statue of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel and start his road show.
Before reaching Kutchehry to file the papers, Modi would also garland the statues of Swami Vivekanand and Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar.
“We expect large number of people to be part of procession. Many traders’ associations have decided to join. Details are being finalised keeping security and tight schedule in mind,” said Prasad.
