Youth arrested,police claims to solve triple murder case
With the arrest of a youth from Thakurganj area on Saturday,the Lucknow police claimed to have solved the triple murder case in which an elderly couple and her granddaughter was killed on January 28.
The arrested person has been identified as Raj Kumar,a resident of Rajajipuram. The police claimed to have recovered a bag,artificial jewellery and a spectacle which belonged to the family he had killed in Thakurganj on January 28. During questioning,Raj Kumar confessed to the crime and said his friend Pawan Kumar,who died in the encounter,and one more person was involved in the crime, said Abhishek Sirohi,in-charge of Thakurganj police station. The police gunned down Pawan Kumar on February 2 in an encounter. The police claimed to have recovered jewellery,torch and mobile phones from him. They claimed that these items also belonged to the Thakurganj family.
Four leaders from different parties joined the Congress at a function held in Lucknow on Saturday. They include BSP leaders from Lakhimpur Khiri Maya Prasad and Rameshwar Prasad,BJP leader from Faizabad Ranjana Singh and Samajwadi Partys Deepa Bhat. Congress MP from Lakhimpur,Zafar Ali Naqvi,UPCC president Rita Bahuguna Joshi and other Congress leaders were present on the occasion.
Zoo staffers to get training for reptiles
In a first for the state,the keepers of Lucknow Zoo will receive training in Care and Management of Reptiles in Captivity in a workshop organised on the directives of the Central Zoo Authority (CZA). The two-week workshop will be attended by 24 participants from 12 states. The main focus of the workshop will be to provide training to the staff in the management of reptiles, said Utkarsh Shukla,deputy director and veterinarian,Lucknow Zoo. The Lucknow Zoo currently houses 90 reptiles including crocodiles,gharials,Indian python,cobra,viper,monitor lizard,red snake,sand snake and turtles.
