Arish shines in SS Hussain state cricket final

All-Round efforts by Arish Alam helped Unity Club in defeating Lucknow Cricket Academy by 45 runs in the final of the 26th SS Hussain Memorial State Cricket Tournament at Northern Railway Stadium,Lucknow on Thursday.

All-Round efforts by Arish Alam (63 runs; 3 for 27) helped Unity Club in defeating Lucknow Cricket Academy (LCA) by 45 runs in the final of the 26th SS Hussain Memorial State Cricket Tournament at Northern Railway Stadium,Lucknow on Thursday.

Batting first,Unity Club scored 199 runs losing eight wickets in the given 30 overs. In reply,LCA was all out at a total of 154 runs in 27 overs.

The prize distribution ceremony was held later in the day. Secretary Cricket Association Lucknow (CAL) KM Khan gave away the prizes to the winners. While Abbas Raza and Meesam Hussain were declared Best Batsman and Best Bowler,respectively,Arish Alam was adjudged Man-of-the-Series.

Unity Club: 199 for eight in 30 overs ( Abhinav Dixit 63,Arish Alam 42; Haider Raza 3 for 52,Abbas Raza 2 for 36);

LCA: 154 all out in 27 overs ( Yashwardhan Singh 47,Abbas Raza 20; Arish Alam 3 for 27,Shahbaz Khan 2 for 16,Agha Shahid 2 for 24).

UPOA elections

THE general body meet of the Uttar Pradesh Olympic Association (UPOA) will be held at Lucknow at 3.00 pm on May 15. Secretary general UPOA Anandeshwar Pandey informed that the management committee elections of the UPOA will also be organised during the meet.

The date of filing nominations is May 14 (between 4.00 pm to 6.00 pm at Hotel Sagar International). BK Yadav (retd. IAS) has been appointed as election officer while the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has appointed SM Bali as its observer. The voting will take place between 3.30 pm to 4.00 pm on Sunday, he further added.
