LUCKNOW: The police on Thursday lodged an FIR at Krishna Nagar police station against a Rajkiya Nirman Nigam (RNN) contractor for not making the payment of his sub-contractor. According to the complaint of Mahendra Kumar Goel,a contractor from Bharatpur,Rajasthan,he had done the work of finishing and fitting sand stone for RNN contractor Vikas Mishras firm Om Distributor and Construction Company,Lucknow,in 2010,and the stone was used for the construction of boundary walls of Kanshi Ram Smarak Sthal and Baudh Vihar. Goel alleged that he had done total work of Rs 49.70 lakh for Mishras firm but he was paid only Rs 27.59 lakh and the cheques given to him for the remaining payment got bounced. Later,Mishra refused to pay the dues and threatened him of dire consequences if he asked for it,Goel alleged. On being contacted,Mishra denied the allegations.
Two bodies found in gunny bags with throats slit
LUCKNOW: Bodies of two women labourers of a footwear factory stuffed in separate gunny bags were recovered from Bharatpur Road in Fatehpur Sikri area of Agra district on Wednesday evening. Throats of both the victims had been slit. The women had been reported missing since Tuesday morning. Agra Additional SP (ASP) West Ashfaq Ahmed said that the police recovered the naked body of a 38-year-old woman stuffed in a sack lying beside the road. The throat of the victim was slit and a saree was also stuffed with the body. The police were carrying out formalities to send the body for post-mortem examination when the locals informed about a similar blood-soaked gunny bag lying beside the road about one-and-a-half kilometres away. The cops rushed to the place to find the half-naked body of another woman of about 30 years of age packed in a sack and her throat was also slit. The Sikandara police station later confirmed about a complaint lodged with them regarding two women labourers with a footwear factory missing since June 19. Circle Officer (CO) of Achhnera area,Karuna Sagar Rai said that the post-mortem examination has ruled out rape or any such attempt on the victims.
30-yr-old woman sets self,three children on fire
ALLAHABAD: A 30-year-old woman allegedly burnt her three minor children,including a two-month-old daughter,to death before killing herself in a village under Utraon police station area of the district on Thursday. According to the police,the incident occurred around 1.30 pm in Bhawanipur village. Manita Devi,wife of one Jai Kumar,went inside a room and locked it from within,the police said. The woman then doused her children and herself with kerosene oil and set all,including herself,afire. Preliminary investigations indicated that the relations between Jai Kumar,who works in a private firm in Delhi,and Manita were strained for the past some time.
