After completing the recruitment of 35,000 constables using Transparent Recruitment Process recently, the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment & Promotion Board is set to begin the selection of another 40,000 recruits in the next phase from September.

The Board also has planned to make some changes in the recruitment process. Chief Minister Mayawati had announced the plan to recruit 1.5 lakh constables in 2008 and subsequently, the government established the recruitment board.

The board chairman,Director General (DG) VC Goel, said: “We are waiting for the sanction of 35,000 more posts of constables,5,000 vacancies are there already. We are in the process of recruiting around 3,700 sub-inspectors,but from September,we have planned to begin the process for constables too. The DGP has assured us of additional manpower if need be to handle the extra workload.”

He said a private agency, which provided technical support for uploading data of candidates, has been blacklisted. The agency had made some serious errors which caused a delay in the process and they will be hiring another agency this time.

The Board has decided to put the application forms online which the candidates can submit online or through registered post. But if a majority of the applications are received online,it will be easier for the Board,Goel said.

Besides, officials who conduct the Physical Standard Test (PST),Physical Endurance Test (PET),the medical examination and the written test will be asked to give their feedback online, the chairman said.
