IN A significant move, the Allahabad High Court has pronounced a judgment in three languages: English, Hindi and Sanskrit, in a case concerning the maintainability of a petition seeking enforcement of an interim maintenance order made by a family court made under section 125 CrPC.

The High Court dismissed the petition. “This judgment is also being written in Hindi as well as in Sanskrit languages and the copies of the same shall also be attached along with this judgment,” the court said.

The petitioners’ lawyer Azad Khan said, “This is the first time in my 32 years of legal practice that I have seen a judgment given in three languages. The judgment in three languages has been merged into a single document.”
