In the wake of the blast at Delhi High Court, officials of the Allahabad High Court are considering a proposal to acquire two plots, adjacent to the court complex,to create a secure and compact high court zone. If acquired, these plots, measuring nearly six acres, will also help in providing various facilities, including parking space.
The district administration has been asked to look into the feasibility of acquisition of the two plots, measuring around six acres.
The Registrar General of the High Court, along with members and senior office bearers of the Allahabad High Court Bar Association,on Thursday reviewed the two plots, which are on nazul land, and asked the district administration to give its report on its current status. A meeting was also held in this regard at the direction of the Chief Justice,in which High Court Registry officials,DM (Allahabad) and members of the Bar were present.
Another meeting on the issue was scheduled on Friday but it got postponed due to some reasons.
One of the plots,of around 4.5 acres,is in front of gate No. 3 of the High Court. The other plot is adjacent to gate No. 5 and is a little less than one acre.
Creating a High Court zone has been our long standing demand. Following the heightened security perception, the officials concerned have decided to expedite the procedure, said Anil Tiwari,Secretary of Allahabad High Court Bar Association.
Tiwari, who was in the team that reviewed the two plots along with Registrar General and other officials on Thursday, said it has been generally agreed upon that a compact zone of the High Court, complete with parking and some other facilities, will be easier to secure.
The two plots can be used not only for constructing additional,multi-storey building for advocates chambers and house other offices but also for demarcated parking spaces. All this will help in giving the arrangements at the High Court a compact shape and make it easier from security point of view, said Tiwari.
