55-year-old hit by JCB machine in Alambagh,dies

A woman died after being hit by a JCB machine at Balda Khera Road in Alambagh on Tuesday.

A woman died after being hit by a JCB machine at Balda Khera Road in Alambagh on Tuesday. A Class IV employee of the Irrigation department,Durga Devi (55) was returning home when the JCB machine hit her from behind. She was rushed to the Trauma Centre where she died. While the police have seized the JCB machine,its driver has managed to escape.

According to sources,the machine was engaged with the Eco Park coming up along the Sharda Canal.

Annoyed residents of the area blocked the Lucknow-Kanpur Road for almost two hours throwing traffic out of gear. Durga Devi’s relatives also demanded a compensation of Rs 5 lakh.

The situation was brought under control when district administrative officials assured the relatives of the compensation and also promised to arrest the driver at the earliest.

“We are trying to trace the driver,” Alambagh Circle Officer Subhash Attri said. He added that the JCB machine was privately owned and was being used in the construction of a park.
