40-year-old businessman commits suicide

A 40-year-old man,Vijay Kumar Chaurasia,committed suicide by shooting himself with a licensed revolver at his rented house in Gomti Nagar on Tuesday evening. A suicide note has been recovered.

A 40-year-old man,Vijay Kumar Chaurasia,committed suicide by shooting himself with a licensed revolver at his rented house in Gomti Nagar on Tuesday evening. A suicide note has been recovered.

“In the suicide note,Vijay stated he was solely responsible for this step and no one should be blamed,” said Baliram Saroj,Circle Officer,Gomti Nagar.

Chaurasia was a proprietor and director of a pan masala factory located at Dewa Road in Chinahat.

“The family members claimed his business had suffered heavy losses and Vijay was under depression,” said Vinay Gautam,in-charge of the Gomti Nagar police station.  

The victim was staying at the ground floor of a house at Visheesh Khand and had his office on the first floor. The incident came to light when his business partner and office staff heard the sound of a gunshot from the drawing room on the ground floor. As they rushed downstairs,they found Chaurasia in a pool of blood,with a revolver lying beside him.

The staff informed the police and Vijay was immediately taken to the Trauma Centre where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Factory manager Asif Ali said: “Vijay was tense because some creditor visited the office and demanded money. I had advised him to talk to them and ask them for some time.”
