35-yr-old charged with raping minor daughter

The police have launched a hunt for the accused father who is absconding.

According to the police,the victim and her mother had come to the police station accompanied by the victim’s maternal grandfather .

A case under Section 376 (rape) and 342 (wrongful confinement) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act,2013,has been registered against the accused father on their complaint,the police added.

The girl was sent for medical examination yesterday, the report of which will arrive in a day,the police said.

Circle Officer of Handia Praveen Kumar Yadav said: “As of now,the victim and her mother are staying in the latter’s maternal house. The victim’s family is well-off . The accused used to drive vehicles,” said Yadav.

The couple has two children — the daughter and a seven-year-old son.

According to the complaint,the victim said she was sleeping with her mother when her father forced himself upon her in the early hours. He reportedly did not stop even as begged him to let go of her . After committing the alleged crime,the father threatened the victim and her mother with dire consequences and asked them to remain silent.

For a few days after the alleged crime,the accused did not also let the daughter step out of the house,the complainant said.

“The arrest of the accused would help in ascertaining the sequence of events. The victim and her mother were under pressure to remain silent. Somehow the mother informed her father. He came to their house and brought them to the police station. In the meantime, the accused absconded,” said Yadav.
