3 cops held in missing oil tanker case

The Central Bureau of Investigation on Thursday arrested three policemen,including a sub-inspector and two constables,in connection with five oil tankers seized by the CBI that went missing.

The Central Bureau of Investigation on Thursday arrested three policemen,including a sub-inspector and two constables,in connection with five oil tankers seized by the CBI that went missing.

The CBI arrested sub-inspector Pujan Yadav,and constables J Tiwari and Satish Pandey.

“They were in-charge of the seized godown from where the oil tankers went missing,” said an officer.

In May 18 last year,a CBI team in a joint operation with Anti-Adulteration Cell of the Indian Oil Company (IOC) and supply inspectors of Chandauli raided a godown in Ali Nagar in Chandauli. The team found adulterated kerosene and diesel in five tankers.

The district supply inspector sealed the godown and handed its custody to Ali Nagar police station.

SI Pujan Yadav and constables J Tiwari and Satish Pandey were posted as in-charge of the security of the godown.

However,the next day,the tankers were found missing. An FIR was registered.

A few days later,the tankers were found by local police.
