20 arrested for smuggling buffaloes

Twenty smugglers were arrested while illegally ferrying buffaloes out of Bhadohi on Saturday. Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Kumar said a group of animal smugglers was apprehended at the Bhadohi-Allahabad National Highway in Aurai police station area this morning. Of the cavalcade of 35 trucks ferrying nearly 1,000 buffaloes,18 trucks gave police the slip,but the remaining were seized,he said. The buffaloes were being taken to Unnao district of UP from Bihar. The seized trucks were found to be carrying 300 animals,of which 14 had died,added the SP.
