17-yr-old boy ‘shoots dead uncle & aunt’

THE LUCKNOW police have detained a 17-year-old youth for allegedly shooting to death his maternal uncle and aunt and injuring their son amid a “family dispute” on Tuesday night, police said on Wednesday.

Police said the incident occurred when his maternal uncle, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, entered into an argument with his mother. The maternal uncle and aunt had been putting pressure on him and his mother to leave the house for the past few years, an officer said.

“We have detained the boy and are interrogating him. He will be produced before the Juvenile Justice Board. We are yet to recover the weapon used in the crime,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police, Lucknow, Abijith R Shankar.

29-year-old son, who suffered a bullet injury, is undergoing treatment at a hospital and doctors said his condition is stable.

The boy’s 64-year-old maternal uncle was a retired government employee.
