Two persons succumbed to dengue on Sunday.

Two persons succumbed to dengue on Sunday. A 73-year-old man reportedly died of dengue at a nursing home on Sunday,but the state health department website put the death toll at 6 since September 13. Septuagenarian Balaram Haldar,a resident of Nadia,was admitted to a nursing home at Mukundapur in South 24-Parganas with fever a few days ago. He tested positive for the NS 1 antigen test. According to reports,Haldar died of dengue. Khalber Sarkar,a resident of Balurghat,died of dengue at Balurghat hospital.

Fire in Titagarh wagon factory

Barasat: A fire broke out at a wagon factory at Titagarh in North 24-Parganas district on Sunday. The fire broke in the paint section of the factory. Fifteen fire tenders were rushed to the spot,said fire brigade adding the fire is now under control. The cause of the fire and extent of damage is not yet known.

Army called in to plug breaches in Ghish

Jalpaiguri: The Army is working round-the-clock to plug breaches at two places on the 200 metre embankment on the Ghish river in Jalpaiguri district,North Bengal Development Minister Gautam Deb said on Sunday. The minister visited five relief camps in Odlabari area housing about 500 people whose homes had been inundated following breaches in the embankment on Friday. He was hopeful that the embankment would be strengthened within two days.
