Trinamool casts its net far and wide

Apart from Lucknow,the Trinamool Congress has put up candidates in Tripura,Kerala,Orissa,Bihar,Jharkhand and Tamil Nadu. While in some constituencies,nominations have already been filed,candidates are yet to be decided in others. “Only in Tamil Nadu,nominations by our candidates are yet to be filed,” said Mukul Roy,a Trinamool general secretary.

Party leaders said though the party has no base in these states and its candidates might even lose their security deposits,the purpose is to make the Trinamool Congress known through out India.

“The purpose is to let our party flag fly in all these states,” said Partho Chatterjee,leader of the opposition in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly.

“Everyone knows Mamata Banerjee,but outside Bengal,very few know about the party and its symbol. In the near future,when we expand outside Bengal,this exercise will help us a great deal in forming our base in other states,” said Roy. ENS
