Trader’s bail plea rejected

The Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Wednesday rejected the bail plea of Kishanlal Sarda,owner of Ganesh Market at Burrabazar.

The Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Wednesday rejected the bail plea of Kishanlal Sarda,owner of Ganesh Market at Burrabazar. The Kolkata police had arrested Kishanlal yesterday for violation of fire safety norms.

According to the FIR,a team of Kolkata police and fire department had inspected the Ganesh Market on April 13. Various inflammable material and goods were found dumped in the shops and godown of the market,which could cause fire incidents and endanger human lives,the FIR added.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Archita Banerjee remanded Sarda in police custody till April 23.

“We have filed FIRs against four markets in the Burrabazzar area. Owners of Raja Katra,Sukdeb Katra and City Centre are absconding. We will slap non-bailable charges against them,” said Bani Brata Basu,Special Commissioner of Police,Kolkata (II).
