To woo students,unions set up kiosks

With the admission process in colleges about to begin,students unions,in an attempt to reach out to more and more students,are setting up information kiosks,helpline numbers and web addresses to help the students

With the admission process in colleges about to begin,students unions,in an attempt to reach out to more and more students,are setting up information kiosks,helpline numbers and web addresses to help the students.

After a good performance in the recent Lok Sabha polls,the Chhatra Parishad,the students wing of the Congress,is keen to connect with the students seeking admission in colleges. It has come out with a helpline and is using cyberspace to reach out to students. Sourav Chakraborty,state president of Chhatra Parishad,said their effort is to ensure the students are not harassed.

The Students Federation of India is not lagging behind. It is trying to bring in more students under its fold. For the first time,other than having volunteers in different colleges,the SFI has come out with a helpline to assist the students in the admission process.

According to Kaustav Chatterjee,state secretary of SFI,representatives of the organisation are going to be present in all colleges. Our comrades will be present to facilitate the admission process and help the students, said Chatterjee.

Meanwhile,with the pass percentage going up this year and with a greater number of students around,the admission process is not going to be smooth.
