TMC holds rally in Singur, slams Left

State agriculture minister and Singur MLA Rabindranath Bhattacharjee Sunday assured “unwilling” farmers of Singur that they would get back their their land.

State agriculture minister and Singur MLA Rabindranath Bhattacharjee Sunday assured “unwilling” farmers of Singur that they would get back their their land.

His statement comes two days after the Left Front took out a huge rally in Singur,a Trinamool bastion, alleging that the state government is out to break farmers’ unity by dividing them into two groups — willing and unwilling — and demanded that “willing farmers” should be given financial assistance along with “unwilling farmers”. Unexpectedly, the Left Front rally had drawn large crowds.

Led by Bhattacharjee and some other Trinamool and SUCI leaders,a section of “unwilling” Singur farmers and their sympathisers took part in the rally today, which originated at Sahanapara and ended at Beraberi Bazar. Today’s rally was attended by SUCI leaders.

Referring to the Left Front rally,Bhattacharjee said: “A few days ago,an outfit held rally to misguide farmers. Those coming here and posing as farmers friends are bohemian birds. Don’t trust them. Hold patience. You will get your land back at some point of time.”

Bhattacharjee said they held the rally today to ensure that no adverse message goes out to the unwilling farmers.
