State junior badminton

Subhankar Dey of South 24 Parganas and Sheshadri Sanyal of North Kolkata emerged the junior boys and girls singles champion of the 72nd State junior badminton tournament at Durgapur on Tuesday.

Subhankar defeated Sourav Chatterjee of East Kolkata 14-21,21-12,21-14 while Sheshadri downed Rituparna Das of East Midnapore 21-16,18-21,21-19.

Last years mini National champion Rituparna Das was declared the best player of the year. She won the sub-junior girls singles in this meet and lost in the final of the junior girls.
