Two Midnapore residents arrested for allegedly buying two four-wheelers that the Maoists used to launch their attack at the EFRs Silda camp on February 15 were today remanded to police custody for six days by a Jhargram court.
The police claimed the duo had confessed they had bought the vehicles and handed them over to Maoists,who later burnt and left these at Kapgari,20 kilometers from the Sildah EFR camp,after the massacre.
The arrested duo has been identified as Asish Mahato and Manas Mahato.
Official sources said they had bought a pick-up van and an Armada from a shop in Kharagpur against cash payment.
The two cars were registered in names of Amulya Mahato and Jagannath Soren with fake registration papers. Registration for one of the vehicles was done in January while that of the other was in October 2009.
