Maoists continue killer spree,2 more dead

Maoists struck again today,killing two persons in the Jhargram area of West Midnapore district.

Maoists struck again today,killing two persons in the Jhargram area of West Midnapore district. Yesterday,they had detonated three IEDs killing two jawans of the State Armed Police (SAP).

Police today recovered the body of Karuna Mahato (48),a popular CPM leader and panchayat pradhan of Salboni Anchal VI. A senior officer of the district police said that Mahato,a resident of Jitushol village,was called outside his house at 11 am by some armed Maoists. He was then taken to the forest and shot dead. The police recovered his body from the state highway near Jhargram.

Maoists also killed a timber trader,Byomkesh Giri,in Lalgarh in a similar manner. According to a senior officer of the Lalgarh police station,Giri was abducted yesterday and his body was found near the forest in Lalgarh late night.

A mine was attached to Giri’s body,so the police could not touch the body. Later,joint forces reached the spot with mine detector and defused it.

Meanwhile,the police today picked up two villagers from the Bhimshol area in connection with the three IED blasts yesterday.
