Man held for possessing deer skulls

Swapan Sardar (30),a resident of Purba Gurguria village under Moipith police station in Raidighi forest range,has been booked under the Wildlife Protection Act. According to forest range officials,a team of the department raided Sardar’s residence following a tip-off. Two skulls of deer and their horns were seized from Sardar’s house.

Preliminary investigations show that Sardar could be a habitual poacher and part of a larger nexus of deer poaching. A few months ago,officials had recovered deer and tiger’s skin from South 24-Parganas.
