Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury in Kolkata on Tuesday. (PTI/File) West Bengal Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Tuesday claimed that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s “magic is fading in the state” and a large number of people from the ruling Trinamool Congress are joining the Opposition party.
Addressing a press conference at the state Congress headquarters in Kolkata, Chowdhury attacked the TMC over arrests of its MLAs and other party leaders in the teachers’ recruitment scam.
“The magic of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is fading and a large number of people are joining the Congress. With the passage of time, this illusion of Mamta Banerjee will go away,” he said.
Targeting the TMC government in the state, Chowdhury said that every district in West Bengal is oppressed in one way or the other. “The number of cases pending with the CBI in West Bengal alone is more than the whole of India. TMC leaders are looting the people of West Bengal. They are being arrested in multiple scams,” he said.
The CBI has so far arrested three TMC MLAs in the teacher recruitment scam. On Tuesday, the Calcutta High Court ordered a CBI inquiry in the case of Trinamool Congress MLA Tapas Saha.
The Congress MP added, “Corruption is now moving towards Murshidabad district. This corruption is still not over. Only its branches are spreading. The Chief Minister of Bengal is a proof of corruption. She is advocating corruption.”
